Engine Warranty & Fitment Conditions

Our Warranty Covers Our Workmanship — Not The Entire Vehicle

​

We stand behind the workmanship of your engine build. However, an engine does not operate in isolation. Correct installation, lubrication, cooling, fuel delivery, ignition, tuning, break-in and overall vehicle condition are critical to the life of any engine.

Warranty applies only to defects directly attributable to our workmanship. If a component supplied by us from a third party or manufacturer fails, it is subject to their warranty conditions also as we are not the manufacturers.

Warranty Does Not Cover Installation or Fitment-Related Failures

​

Once an engine leaves our workshop, we cannot control how it is installed, started, tuned, operated or maintained.

Warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from, including but not limited to:

• Incorrect engine installation or fitment

• Incorrect or inadequate break-in procedures

• Bore glazing caused by incorrect running-in procedures

• Incorrect oil, coolant or lubricant

• Low oil pressure or oil starvation

• Cooling system faults, overheating or inadequate cooling

• Fuel system faults or incorrect fuel delivery

• Injector or fuel pump faults

• Incorrect ignition timing

• Incorrect ECU calibration or tuning

• Detonation, pre-ignition or lean conditions

• Incorrect component setup

• Foreign objects or contamination entering the engine

• Incorrect ancillary components or accessories

• Incorrect exhaust or intake systems where they contribute to failure

• Lack of servicing or maintenance

• Continued operation after an abnormal noise, warning, overheating or other fault becomes apparent

• Racing, competition, abuse, over-revving or other use outside the agreed application

• Modifications made after the engine leaves our workshop without our approval

• Damage caused by another component or system within the vehicle

Bore Glazing & Engine Break-In

​

Bore glazing is not considered a manufacturing or machining defect where it has resulted from incorrect engine break-in, incorrect operating conditions, unsuitable oil, excessive idling, light-load operation or failure to follow the recommended running-in procedure.

Correct piston ring seating requires the engine to be operated correctly from its initial start-up. Simply installing an engine and allowing it to idle or operate under insufficient load can prevent proper ring seating and may result in bore glazing, oil consumption and poor compression.

These conditions are not a warranty failure where they are caused by installation or operating procedures outside our control.

Diagnosis Before Warranty

A claim does not automatically mean a warranty repair or replacement is authorised.

Where a problem is reported, the engine may need to be inspected and/or tested to determine the actual cause of the failure. If the failure is found to be related to installation, tuning, fitment, maintenance, break-in or another component or system outside our workmanship, the associated inspection, removal, transport, labour and repair costs may be the responsibility of the customer.

Do not continue operating an engine if a serious fault, abnormal noise, overheating, loss of oil pressure or other warning sign occurs. Continued operation may cause additional damage and can affect warranty assessment.

Installation & First Start

​

For best results, we strongly recommend that engine installation, initial start-up, tuning and break-in procedures are carried out by a suitably qualified and competant technician.

Where required, we may request evidence of installation, start-up, tuning, servicing and break-in procedures when assessing a warranty claim.

The Bottom Line

​

We warranty our workmanship. We cannot warranty the installation, vehicle, tuning, fuel system, cooling system, driving conditions or anything else we do not control.

A failed engine is not automatically a failed engine build. The cause of the failure must be established before a warranty claim can be accepted.
